Friday, 23th August 2013 at the Barracks in Sion Grand Raid Vehicle Inspection Vehicle inspection will be held between 11 am and 7 pm on Friday, 23th August at the Race Office in Sion. Inspection is obligatory. Participants who have performed a pre-check with one of the organisation’s partners may undergo a rapid and simplified inspection.Nevertheless, the organisation reserves itself the right to refuse the registration of a participant whose bicycle fails the vehicle inspection. New pricing for technical control To prevent flagrant abuses noted in recent years to roadworthiness of the Grand Raid, the committee decided that the first fifteen minutes of control and work for each bike will be offered. Beyond this time, the work done and more will be charged against by cash at the rate of Frs. 20. - for every fifteen minutes. It goes without saying that all wearing parts will also be billed immediately. We invite all competitors to make it a little before the race in a central checkpoint to ensure the pristine condition of their bike, which is the best guarantee of a quick and achieve arrival in Grimentz in the best conditions. This is for your safety... and the one of every other competitors. This inspection is obligatory for every bicycles participating at the Grand Raid. Since the introduction of vehicle inspection the number of accidents due to mechanical problems has sharply decreased. On race day technical staff will be stationed all along the course and will be at your service for any mechanical needs and repairs for your bike. Advice from the specialist : For the Grand Raid bring a bike that you have already ridden. It is inadvisable to inaugurate a new bicycle for the occasion.

During your last ride before the Grand Raid examine your brake pads and do not hesitate to change them if necessary! Experience tells us that brakes at 50% (in dry weather...) will not make it to Grimentz.
