This is for your safety... and the one of every other competitors.

This inspection is obligatory for every bicycles participating at the Grand Raid.
The inspectors of your bicycle are professionals having one single objective: YOUR SAFETY.

Since the introduction of vehicle inspection the number of accidents due to mechanical problems has sharply decreased.

On race day technical staff will be stationed all along the course and will be at your service for any mechanical needs and repairs for your bike.

Advice from the specialist :

For the Grand Raid bring a bike that you have already ridden. It is inadvisable to inaugurate a new bicycle for the occasion.

15 days before the race visit your bicycle's professional for a check-up of the following points:

  • Gears (operation and wear on transmission)
  • Brakes (cables or hydraulic system)
  • Rubbers and brake pads (wear)
  • Axis of the pedals (without any loose)
  • Steering (must turn freely and without any loose)
  • Handlebar / bracket (the unit must be tight)
  • Saddle / saddle stem (tighten)
  • Wheels (binding, tension of the rays and  net curtain)
  • Rims (wear on the side walls)
  • Tires (wear and tires adapted to conditions)
  • Fork and suspension (correct operation and pressure)
  • Screws and bolts (check for tightening)
  • Shoes / pedals (interlocking and release of the clips)
  • Pedals (loose on the axis)
  • Helmet (good fit and well adjusted straps)

During your last ride before the Grand Raid examine your brake pads and do not hesitate to change them if necessary!

Experience tells us that brakes at 50% (in dry weather...) will not make it to Grimentz.
